THE LAST WILD CAR GOES TO VIKTOR SKALLE

Čeladná, 17. 8. 2011
The number of Czech players who will compete at this year’s Czech Open stabilized at 16. Just few moments before the tournament starts, the tournament promoter - Quirit AlphaCompany announced, that the last wild card has been given to Victor Skalle. “It was all happening so fast,” said the sixteen year old Czech player in the starting field, after arriving to Čeladná. “Promoter called me on Monday evening and I had to quickly pack up my things and go. But I´m looking forward to this tournament very much!. ”

Viktor Skalle was the closest in history to make the cut into final rounds last year. In the end he missed it by one shot. This year, together with the other Czech players he will try to make an historical record in the tournament. Neither one of the players didn´t make the cut in previous two years to be able to fight for the valuable trophy. Before the tournament all the players posed with the trophy in front of the grandstand on the green of the 18th hole. The best Czech professional Marek Nový looked at the trophy with all his respect, as well as junior Czech champion Jiri Korda Jr.

The first player on domestic rankings Order of Merit Marek Nový doesn´t admit much the role of Czech number one before the tournament. “There are many players who can make the cut and participate in the final rounds. I didn´t come to Čeladná to compete only with Czech golfers, but also with the next hundred and twenty professionals. If I want to make the cut, I need to beat half of them. That is my major goal, ” he said during the photo shoot of Czech players and with a smile he added:” But if I didn´t make the cut and any other Czech player will, I would definitely keep my fingers crossed for him – just as all the fans would. There is really not much rivarly between us.“

A complete overview of Czech players who will participate in Czech Open 2011: Amateurs: Simon Zach, Jiří Korda Jr., Ondřej Lieser, Dostál, Oliver Vaidiš, Peter Gál, Jakub Svoboda Professionals: Marek Nový, Stanislav Matuš, Lukáš Tintěra, Martin Příhoda, Rudolf Nechanický, Petr Zima, Filip Mrůzek, Lukáš Lizánek a Viktor Skalle.
