JIMÉNEZ: IN THE EUROPEAN COURCE YOU CAN PLAY MORE TACTIALLY

Čeladná, 17. 8. 2011
If the Spanish golfer Miguel Angel Jimenez should have become a citizen of Čeladná, there obviously would not be any problem. Golf fans love him, and he on the contrary considers surroundings in Beskydy as his second home. Every time when a course designer of Prosper Golf Resort Celadna presented at the European PGA Tour tournament, he was followed by hundereds enthusiastic fans on all 18 holes. We can assume that the same will happen during the 3rd year of Czech Open.

In what shape have you arrived this year and how are you looking forward to this tournament?

„I´m really happy to be back in Celadna. I have had 2 demanding weeks so far in America, where I didn´t feel so good. It was very humid there, and the time change wasn´t pleasant for me either, so I didn´t play so well. But after the arrival to Czech, I´ve been practising well, played the PRO-AM tournament and now I´m feeling very good.“

There have been said many times by the fans that this year will be totally different than the last two. The European Course will be played for the first time. What´s your opinion for that?

„From my point of view it is a good thing that the organizers changed the golf course. The European Course is much better fot tactics. The holes are longer so that brings much more game options. I am really looking forward to it!”

Are you satisfed with your this year´s season so far?

„I am definitely satisfed with the begining. Anyway, few weeks ago I changed my putter and I´m still having some problems with the precision of putting. That means I have to practise a lot , because I lose needlesses points.“

And what about your ambitions in the Race to Dubai?

„I would like to keep in the top. Beeing in the TOP 10 is the goal of almost every golfer. But I always try to concetrate on every single week and tournament which is waiting for me. I don´t want to distract myself with thaughts like how am I standing in the ranking.“

Let´s get back to the tournament in Čeladna. Last year you were fighitng for the first place till the very last moments, then the mistake came on the island 15th hole. Did you learn your lesson?

„At that time I went on the green too much agressive. The ball was supposed to end in the hole, but instead of that it rolled down to the water. It was a mistake, but what can I do. But I promise, it won´t happen this year!“

Which one of the new 9 holes, which your opponent don´t know exactly so far, seems the most difficult to you?

„There are plenty of them, for example the hole number 3 has a very difficult green. On the 7th hole you have to play streight down the hill and you really have to pay atention to te precision of your shot. 12th hole is very difficult too. I think that we will all convince ourselves very soon about the great quailty of course, but that doesn´t mean it´s an easy couse.
